Train. Certify. Save lives — City EMT.
Hands-on EMT certification and community CPR training, built for people ready to start a career in emergency medicine.
What the program includes
Free & stipend-paid
No tuition, no cost to participants. Equipment, class materials, and uniforms are provided at no cost through the support of our sponsors and donors.
Ages 18–24
High school diploma or GED, valid CA driver's license, and a clean background check. No prior medical experience is needed.
4 months, full-time
A 16–17 week, full-time commitment covering the full expanded EMT curriculum.
What you'll need to apply
The selection process is competitive and not all applicants advance to the panel interview phase. We suggest reading through the full application first, drafting your essay answers in paragraph form, and gathering all required documents before you begin.
Required documents: valid ID or license, HS diploma or GED, resume, COVID vaccination card, HS transcript, and (optional) college transcript — plus three short essay questions.
More than a certification
Through partnerships with community organizations, City EMT students also receive case management, life coaching, mental health support, housing-stability assistance, and food/nutrition resources — the wrap-around services that help students complete the program and launch their careers.
